Anna Dulin, 27, is a 2010 graduate of the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Fine Art in Graphic Communications. She is currently an Interactive Designer at Unleaded Communications, a marketing firm based in Houston. For Anna, joining Ladies of Distinction in 2000 as a student at Aldine Senior High School was the first of a series of small but important events that paved the way for her success story.
It was on a Ladies of Distinction career tour at Gensler in 2002 that she fell in love with the idea of becoming a graphic designer. She set her sights on attending the University of Houston after speaking to a designer at Gensler. Then in 2003, she met TEW member Nancy Hall, who established a scholarship to help Anna achieve her goal of attending UH. Nancy has been a mentor and friend throughout Anna's journey. As a graphics student at UH, Anna contributed work on a team project that was recognized by the Society of Environmental Graphic Design.
As the oldest child in her family, Felicia Jackson had determination. Determination that she says she knew "would take her places." She was not wrong. Jackson participated in the TEW Ladies of Distinction program while attending Aldine High School. She went on to graduate in 2001 and was awarded a TEW scholarship that helped her pay for college at prestigious Rice University. She graduated Rice with a degree in biochemical engineering in 2005. Next this determined TEW scholar earned her doctor of Optometry from Tennessee's Southern School of Optometry in 2010. "I just knew there was more to life for someone who was such a thinker." Jackson shared.
Now Felicia Jackson is Dr. Felicia Jackson, a captain in the Air Force now stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. The girl now woman with the active imagination will soon be assigned to Korea, and then Germany. She is grateful to the family, mentors, and groups like TEW that helped to get her where she is today. A young woman living her dream.
