April Bailey
April Bailey is an Executive Vice President with Amegy Bank in Houston. She has been with
Amegy for over 18 years, joining the organization’s Banker Development Program in 2004.
April oversees Amegy’s Asset-Based Lending and Factoring groups as well as a Commercial
Banking team that accounts for over $2 billion in loan commitments and generates over
$100 million in revenue.
April and her teams’ day-to-day include the origination, negotiation and closing of
commercial loans for existing and new clients with revenues that range from $20 million to
over $1 billion. She and her team support various industries which include manufacturing,
distributing, logistics, aerospace, energy, transportation and construction. April is also
responsible for lending efforts within the marine transportation/logistics space, which she
was instrumental in establishing an industry vertical within Amegy’s commercial banking
group.
April received her BBA in Finance at the University of Houston and her MBA in Finance from
the University of St. Thomas in Houston.
April is an advocate of mentoring and developing others and demonstrates leadership in
varied capacities. She has served on the Executive Committee as Treasurer and a board
member of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and is currently an Executive
board member and Treasurer-Secretary of the Greater Houston Port Bureau and a member
of the Greater Houston Partnership’s Executive Women’s Partnership Steering Committee,
currently Vice Chair. April is also on the board for Teach for America - Houston and the
board of the University of St. Thomas. Additionally, April is a graduate of the International
Women’s Forum Fellows Program (Class of 2018) and a recipient of American Banker’s
Most Powerful Women in Banking (Top Team: Zions Bancorp. - 2019 and 2020) by the
American Banker Association as well as a recipient of the Houston Business Journal’s Top
40 under 40 honorees in 2011.
April was born in Port Arthur, Texas and raised in the Houston area. She and her husband,
Kevin, have two children, Isabela (16 years old) and Jackson (14 years old) that attend the
Awty International School. April’s hobbies include traveling, reading, yoga/pilates and
learning to cook.
