Vicki Luna is a well-respected professional in community affairs, attributing her commitment to volunteer service from an early age to the influence of her parents and grandparents, who dedicated their time and talents to their church and community in Uvalde, Texas. Currently serving in Public Affairs for H-E-B in Houston, Vicki is responsible for coordinating external and internal events for the Houston region. Her role includes representing H-E-B at key functions, assisting with charitable contributions, and fostering relationships in the community. Before joining H-E-B, she held the position of Community and Public Affairs Coordinator at Fluor, a global engineering construction company. In this role, Vicki managed the Fluor Cares volunteer program in the Houston office, overseeing community relations, volunteer activities, and building strategic partnerships with local charities and schools. Under her leadership, the Houston office achieved the top global ranking in volunteer hours during her six-year tenure. Prior to her corporate roles, Vicki gained experience in public and community relations within the education sector. Her roles at Houston Community College and Houston Independent School District (HISD) involved managing the school district's volunteer program, which saw a significant increase from 29,000 to 80,000 volunteers in five years. Vicki holds a Master's degree in Liberal Arts from the University of St. Thomas and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations from Texas State University. Actively involved in community service, Vicki has completed her sixth and final year on the Board of Directors of the Latin Women's Initiative (LWI), where she served as President for two terms. Her contributions include successful leadership of the 2021 LWI Fashion Show and Luncheon, which surpassed previous records despite challenges posed by COVID-19. Vicki serves on various non-profit boards and committees in the Greater Houston area, including SERJobs, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, and Barrio Dogs. She is also an alumna of Fort Bend Leadership and the Fort Bend Leadership for Non-Profit Excellence Program, and a former board member of the Corporate Community Relations Council of Houston. Invited to give the commencement speech at the Raul Yzaguirre Schools for Success T-STEM Academy graduation in May 2023, Vicki is a sought-after speaker on panels for non-profits and corporations throughout the Houston area, addressing topics such as philanthropy, community partnerships, and volunteerism. Beyond her professional commitments, Vicki finds joy in spending time with family and friends, volunteering, and exploring new destinations through travel.
